AIR in Amsterdam Equipped with Void Acoustics System

AMSTERDAM – AIR, located on the site of the former iT club, was equipped with a Void Acoustics audio system featuring the company's Air Motion triple horns and new Trinity X sub. The brainchild of Dutch event organizer and promoter Sander Groet, AIR features an interior design by Marcel Wanders and can accommodate up to 1,300 club-goers.
"We started out with a bare shell that fortunately already had a thick layer of sound isolation already in place – the architect obviously knew of the site's history," said Sjoerd Wynia – one of the three directors behind AIR.

"The sound system is the very heart of the club, and we looked at lots of different options," Wynia added. "Void invited us to check out the sound at Matter, and when we heard it, we knew it was perfect for AIR.

"When you put the looks, the sound quality and the power together, you get a phenomenal result," Wynia said. "The last thing we want is for our guests to be overwhelmed by a wall of sound without real clarity, and the system really delivers on this count.  It is very loud without any loss of definition, and you can really feel the bass. The Void team put 200% into making it the best sound system in the city.  Our regular and visiting DJs love it, and the audience reaction has been great."

The installation was handled by Void's new Dutch dealership, Soundfreax/Void Benelux, which finished the install within a tight time frame.

The club space, divided into two dance halls and five bars, is designed as a scalable venue that can provide an intimate space regardless of total attendance.

The main sound system includes six Air Motion horns with four Mycro 8 cabinets and eight of Void's new sub – the 21" Trinity X.

Extremely careful speaker positioning was required to overcome the number of delays in the different spaces, with Void's Alex Skan working with Void Benelux to optimize the result.

The complete sound system line-up includes 12 Air Tens, eight Waveform 10 cabinets, and another new Void product – the specially designed Waveform 215, which uses two 15" woofers instead of a single 12".  Twenty-two Void Infinite amplifiers and five Xilica DSP processors, provide up to 40kW as needed.
