Crowded House U.K. and European Tour Supported by Adlib

LONDON – ADLIB supplied the U.K. and European legs of the current Crowded House tour with sound equipment and crew. Dee McLoughlin served as tour manager, Robin Scott as production manager, and Adlib's James Neale and Marc Peers also joined the tour, supporting engineers Angus Davidson (FOH) and Paul Jeffrey (monitors).
Adlib supplied an L-Acoustics V-DOSC system for the eclectic range of venues, which included dV-DOSC infills, ARCs side fills and SB28 subs, chosen by Davidson for sound quality and clarity.

The setup varied according to venue, and in its largest format the main arrays consisted of eight V-DOSC cabinets a side with three dV underhangs. They were using a combination of d-V and ARCs infills and outfills along the front of stage. Dolby Lakes, an Adlib standard, were used for processing and EQ, and all the L-Acoustics gear was powered by LA8 amps.

Adlib reported that the tour with smoothly, with the main challenge being the varying venue sizes. To deal with that, the crew alternately flew and ground-stacked the PA.

Davidson, who works for Avid in Australia and New Zealand, used an Avid Profile for the tour with a variety of onboards and plug-ins. Jeffrey also used a Profile console for monitors.

The band is also touring with 14 wedges (seven mixes) and 4 channels of Sennheiser G3 PMs for bassist Nick Seymour and drummer Matt Sherrod, with one ARC and one SB28 cabinet per side for sidefills. The wedges are d&b M2s and the band is using all their own Earthworks mics.

"It's a really 'grown up' tour in that everyone has been around for a while and knows their job inside out," said Peers, calling the band "extremely accomplished musicians" who "know exactly what they want. There's a real family atmosphere here, which creates a really pleasant working environment. There are never any dramas on a tour like this."

Scott credited Adlib for being "by far one of the best supply companies I've ever worked with. Their work ethic and high standards never ceases to amaze me, and I wonder where they keep finding the quality of crew they keep sending me. As for the gear, it comes on tour in perfect condition and is maintained to the highest degree."
