LATHROP, CA – US Audio and Lighting has expanded with a new shop and office in Northern California led by Patrick Coughlin, formerly with R&R Sound. Coughlin is a 26-year veteran in the studio and live sound biz. US Audio was founded in the Los Angeles area by Pete Docter in 1988 after he worked for years as a freelance musician.
Coughlin noted that he "did my first show for US Audio at the beginning of February in Miami at the American Airlines Arena – it was the SOS: Save OurSelves benefit for Haiti live televised (BET, MTV,VH1) concert.
"We dove right in with five consoles (Yamaha PM5Ds; three at FOH; two for the artists, one for production, and two in monitors), plus a recording and TV truck. It was a total of about 95 inputs, six hangs of PA (12 L-Acoustics V-Dosc per side, three dv-Dosc per side for down fill, eight Kudos per side for side hangs, six ARCS per side for rear fill, and 20 SB28s for subs). The artists were Mary J Blige, Wyclef, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Busta Rhymes, India.Arie, Robin Thicke, and several more, MC'd by Queen Latifah and Sean Diddy Combs, and featured an appearance by former President Bill Clinton.
"As usual, I was very impressed by the US Audio staff and equipment, headed up by US Audio crew chief Brian Murray," Coughlin continued. "The show was a huge success, and I knew that this was a great move, and a great fit for me."
