BARCELONA – After nearly seven years of planning and construction, Primera Liga opened the Estadi del RCD Espanyol Cornellá-El Prat soccer stadium. The stadium seats 40,000 and features a progressive design. It also houses a Harman Professional sound system complete with Crown amplifiers, BSS processors and JBL Loudspeakers.
The stadium's energy-efficient design features include solar panels and a system for capturing and using rainwater. The main PA, provided by Harman distributor Earpro, consists of a point-to-point installation based on 40 JBL Precision Directivity PD 5212/95 WRC weather-resistant enclosures, grouped in 20 clusters of two loudspeakers each. Crown CTs 2000 HiQnet compatible amplifiers power the speakers, with a Soundweb London BLU 80 DSP supporting the routing matrix.
The electro-acoustic design of the system was carried out by the company Sono and supported by the engineering department of Earpro. The stadium is divided into two zones: the stands (and the ring structure surrounding them) which uses clear geometric shapes, and a façade conceived as a floating and translucent front "curtain" with the club colors lit after dark. The roof covers the two main seated areas and the goals (the only uncovered areas being the corners).
In addition to the soccer field, the complex features a shopping and leisure center. The infrastructure is also designed to promote interaction between the crowds attending matches, following the new criteria for European stadiums, including a family leisure centre and facilities that extend beyond the sport premises.
Harman HiQnet connectivity and control protocol integrates all product categories in the signal chain.
