KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan — Fantasy Sound International and Proel provided the sound at Kaohsiung Arena, a 56,000-square-meter, 15,000-capacity multi-purpose stadium in this southern Taiwan city, one of main stadiums used for World Games 2009. Completed in 1998, Kaohsiung Arena is one of the biggest domed stadiums in Taiwan. Along with sporting events, it is used for everything leisure to shopping. The Proel speakers made their debut during a festive ceremony in 2008, and Kaohsiung’s mayor, Chen Chu, complimented the sound system.
The pre-installation simulation for the 40-meter-high venue was an important step in achieving those results. Proel Sound Reinforcement engineers, in collaboration with Fantasy Sound International and the installation engineers, created a detailed simulation of the sound system using the EASE 4 software.
To be able to meet the sound requirements posed by the height of the venue, Proel engineers in Italy also studied and modified the speaker components. The Proel TFLV Speaker series were installed in clusters, including 48 TFLV152P8s as the main speakers, 24 TFLV1515TB custom-made speakers as supplement speakers, six TFLV12P8 used as monitors and 34 of the new HPD series of digital amplifiers, which provided the power.
“Our customer is very happy with the quality of the sound reinforcement in the Kaohsiung Arena,” said Vicky Huang from Fantasy Sound International, who noted the “particular importance and significance for the people inTaiwan” of the venue.
