IPSWICH, U.K. —Celestion announced a 50 percent increase in sales for its professional audio products. Separately, the company announced the appointment of Miami Parts Imports Inc. as the company’s distributor for Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Suriname, Uruguay and the Caribbean.

Nigel Wood, managing director, called the 2008 sales gain “a confirmation of our long term strategy” focusing on market share expansion, including significant investments in personnel and equipment.

“We now have the largest research and development team of any loudspeaker driver manufacturer,” Wood said, adding, “This team enjoys access to one of the best-equipped loudspeaker design, development, testing and measurement facilities anywhere in the world.

“This expanded resource has enabled us to develop an innovative and comprehensive range of products capable of fulfilling the exacting requirements of leading sound reinforcement OEMs,” Wood added. “This includes the introduction of several ground-breaking products like the CDX14-3050 compression driver, which features a patent-applied-for phase plug design.”

Despite the uncertain economy, Wood sees 2009 as a year where the company could “continue this trend and grow just as strongly,” adding that last year’s sales gains “demonstrate that our strategy is definitely the right one to put us on the path to long term growth, even during these uncertain economic times.”
