COSTA MESA, CA—Bob Lee, pictured here, a 15-year veteran with QSC, the last nine of which he spent in the Tech Services Group, has become secretary for the Audio Engineering Society (AES). Lee officially took charge of the post shortly after the 125th AES Convention held in San Francisco. QSC also announced that Perry Celia has been named the company’s director of U.S. sales, Western region. Lee said that as AES secretary, "I'm handling the Board of Governors' meeting minutes and correspondence, and working with the treasurer to develop the AES's annual budget. My interest in and knowledge of information design will definitely be a plus for this job."

Lee just completed two years as AES VP for the Western US and Canada. There, he helped launch the society's new professional section in the Sacramento Valley and revitalized student sections in locations including Long Beach City College.

The Office of AES Secretary is part of the Executive Committee. "Some people say that the secretary actually runs the AES," Lee said. "I hope they are exaggerating. Based upon my time in office so far, I'm finding I have plenty to do already. One of my first tasks involved notifying about a dozen AES members that they'd been selected to receive awards such as the Distinguished Service Medal. It was especially gratifying because two of the recipients—Ray Rayburn and Irv Joel—I'd known since very early in my audio career nearly 25 years ago."

Lee is also a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and a senior member of the Society for Technical Communication, where he participates in information design, technical editing, policy and procedures, and marcom special interest groups.

As newly-named director of U.S. sales, Western region, meanwhile, Celia, pictured here, has been making QSC's southern California headquarters in Orange County his home base of operations.

Celia came to the post following a career path marked by stops at JBL, where he served as director of Eastern sales; independent rep firm Sound Marketing West, where he was a VP and principal; and Alesis Corporation, where he was director of Eastern sales.

"I couldn't think of a better time to make this move in my life," Celia said shortly after McLagan broke the news of his appointment. "QSC is clearly positioned at an important crossroads in its history, and it's great to be part of this winning team."
