MIAMI — With 17 GRAMMY awards lining his shelves — more than any other Spanish musician in history — Alejandro Sanz has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. Born in Madrid, Spain, these days Sanz officially calls South Florida home, but more often than not he can be seen onstage performing around the globe. Touring on the success of El Tren de los Momentos, his latest disc featuring a duet with Shakira entitled “Te lo Agradezco, Pero No,” Sanz has trusted his sound to Shure since his first tour.
"I've always had a wonderful outcome using Shure in the studio and live," he readily admits. "I love the presence the microphones give me. They have this clarity through a very broad range of frequencies, and they are resilient. For touring, that's really important. There is no way to destroy them. If one falls or takes a hit you know that you can pick it up and it will respond just as it did before. It's like having a guarantee."
Upon the suggestion of his sound engineer Fernando Diaz, Sanz made the switch to Shure PSM in-ear personal monitors and hasn't looked back. Initially chosen to optimize the house PA by reducing stage volumes, Sanz has found that his PSM also provides him with higher quality sound while simultaneously giving him more control over his performance.
“I have been using Shure wireless systems for a long time due to their sound quality and RF reliability,” said Diaz. “With Alejandro Sanz, we are now on our fourth world tour in which we rely exclusively on Shure for first class personal and technical support throughout the Americas and in Europe.”
Whether performing live or recording in the studio, Sanz is known widely for his dedication to his art and craft.
"When I am working, I really don't pay attention to time," he says. "My music keeps me alive, keeps me strong, keeps me interested and always wanting more, and that's enough to keep me wanting to work and to keep touring. As long as I am able to continue to write the music I want and continue to share it with my audience, I will always be inspired."
