LAS VEGAS — Keeping the music and entertainment up for the Celtic Feis at the New York New York hotel & casino, Grosz Live Productions of Las Vegas erected a substantial SR system with products from the DAS Audio catalog. This year's Celtic Feis festivities included Carrot Top, hosting a St. Patrick's Day parade through the hotel/casino, as well as live music provided by Sin E RiRa, Nine Fine Irishmen's house band, along with Elevation, a U2 cover band, plus other performers. A stage was erected under the Brooklyn Bridge's arches.
As far as sound, Forrest Grosz, owner of Grosz Live Productions explained, "We flew eight Aero CA-28A self-powered mid-high line array elements — four on each side of the stage — and placed four CA-215A subwoofers under the stage. For the performers, we had five DAS Audio SM-15A self-powered floor monitors on the stage. This setup provided plenty of power, and because everything is self-powered and self-processed, it made the entire setup and tear down process a lot easier, since we didn't have to move any heavy amplifiers."
DAS Audio's Aero CA-28A is a powered, bi-amplified, two-way line array module designed for use in multi-box arrays. The DAS Audio Aero CA-215A subwoofer is a self-powered system featuring dual 15-inch LF drivers front-loaded in a bass-reflex configuration coupled with a 1,000-watt monoamplified power source. The rectangular enclosure incorporates the rigging hardware and fittings needed to couple the unit to other CA-215A or CA-28A units. Four rear casters and four steel reinforced bar handles facilitate loading and unloading. DAS Audio's SM-15A is a powered stage monitor that incorporates the company's 15L cone loudspeaker for bass reproduction.
"Like any outdoor event," says Grosz, "good sound reinforcement is always a challenge. This festival was attended by several thousand people, so the sound system absolutely had to be a concert-grade setup capable of handling capacity crowds."
