NILES, IL – Shure Incorporated announced on November 1 that it has randomly chosen the ten collegiate finalists for this year's Fantastic Scholastic Recording Competition. Recording in the studio this year will be student teams representing American University, Appalachian State University, William Paterson University, the University of Michigan, Indiana University, Berklee College of Music, Ohio University, University of Massachusetts, Lebanon Valley College and Shenandoah University. Said Dave Mendez, market development specialist who coordinated the competition, "Shure is happy to be able to continue this contest and support the people who teach and study recording."

Each of the 10 student teams will work on a recording project that consists of tracking and mixing a performance, exclusively using a "microphone locker" provided by Shure for the competition. Teams will be required to submit a stereo mix and studio journal for review by a panel of industry professionals who were selected by Shure to judge the competition.

The winning school will take ownership of the entire Shure Microphone Locker, which consists of: one Beta 52A, one Beta 91, three Beta 98D/Ss, two KSM27s, two KSM32s, two KSM44s, two KSM141s, four SM57s, one SM7B, one VP88 and one A27M.
