VALENCIA, SPAIN–It started with a desire to provide their fans with the "Ultimate Sound Experience" and Durell LLC was encouraged to look for ways to make the fan experience like none other in the NFL. It ended with a unique sound system for Cleveland Browns fans. Durrell are responsible for the sound systems at the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Bristol Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Conseco Fieldhouse (NBA) and the Nashville Predators (NHL). Plus, Durrell has designed and built many recording studios for some of the most demanding golden ears in the recording business, and has extensive experience in television broadcast.
This broad, in-depth background was an invaluable resource in reaching the "Ultimate Fan Experience" for a new state-of-the-art P.A. system at the Cleveland Browns Stadium, completed July 2006.
As a special feature, four custom made large rolling field carts were made each as a self contained high powered P.A., using D.A.S. self-powered Aero Line Arrays and dual 18-inch subs to enhance extreme low frequency delivery to the lower seats. This provides a total of 16 dual 18-inch speaker cabinets with 32 Aero 38A mid/high line array speakers placed in each of four corners at the goal lines. This unique field audio delivery system will be used for pre-game practice and warm-ups (this system will be turned off for the game, due to NFL restrictions), and will have a second use with speakers directed at the end zone area. The eastern end zone section, home to the famous "Dog Pound" will experience enhanced audio derived from new parabolic microphones designed to pick up sound from the line of scrimmage. This system will deliver the calls and crunches just like the TV broadcast.
The new sound system will give the Browns fans an unparalleled experience at games and greatly increase performance options that will make additional events possible.
