AMSTERDAM/STRAUBING – RTS Intercom Systems has named the latest recruit to its UK team as experienced broadcast engineer, Jimmy Parkin. Parkin will serve as RTS’ new Intercom System Engineer, ensuring that UK customers can benefit from his wealth of knowledge.
Parkin joins RTS following an illustrious career working for leading broadcasters such as Sky and CBS News as well as production companies including the UK arm of NEP. He joins the company with extensive experience of working with RTS intercom systems and a deep knowledge of the products.
“We are delighted to welcome someone of Jimmy’s caliber to our UK team,” said Martin Liermann, Sales Director EMEA at RTS Intercom Systems. “He has been on the frontline of the broadcast industry for a number of years with both broadcasters and production companies, and he will bring an understanding of the real world challenges our customers face every day.”
“I felt that this was the right time for me to make the switch to the manufacturer-side of the industry, and RTS was the perfect fit,” added Parkin. “I’ve experienced the advantages that RTS bring to users at various places throughout my career, and I’m excited to share that knowledge with our users in the UK.”
Parkin’s new role sees him take over from Geoff Rogers. Rogers has been a well-known and highly respected part of RTS and the wider broadcast industry for more than two decades. He now takes a well-deserved retirement after a distinguished career.
“Geoff has been instrumental to the success of RTS in the UK,” said Liermann. “He has been a familiar face and trusted voice to many and will certainly be missed. We wish him all the best for his retirement.”
One of Parkin’s first acts will be to connect with the RTS community at IBC in Amsterdam. He will be with the RTS team on booth 11.D09 at the show, which runs from September 13 – 16, 2024.
