BEAVER FALLS, PA — Speaker manufacturer and freelance live sound engineer Mark Steven Bodin passed away on July 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was 63.
Born in Winter Park, FL, on March 5, 1961, Bodin grew up in that suburb of Orlando and developed a love of music and technology from an early age. However, that was to change as much of his adolescent years were spent in Venezuela with his New Tribes Mission missionary parents, Donald and Jean Bodin. Through that experience, he developed a long-lasting love for airplanes and aspired to continue doing missionary work as a bush pilot.
That plan took a different direction, when he fell in love with his future spouse Carol Ann Bodin (née Paton). The family eventually settled in North Sewickley, PA, where Bodin continued his interest in aviation, briefly working at the Pittsburgh International Airport and then as a sales representative for speaker manufacturer A-Line Acoustics, which was acquired by Atlas Sound in 2012.
With three friends, Bodin co-founded a Pennsylvania-based company called Our Master’s Voice Audio, a full-service Christian AV integrator specializing in high-end church audio and video systems for contemporary worship.
Bodin also worked as a freelance audio engineer and front of house mixer for a variety of live performance clients, including churches, schools and concert tours.
Additionally, Bodin was an active partner of another audio company, RGS (“Redefining Great Sound”) Pro Systems of Zelienople, PA. Founded in 2013, RGS Pro Systems (www.rgsprosystems.com) designs and manufactures high-quality, affordable pro sound reinforcement speakers, specializing in line arrays, both conventional and vertical column “Linear Tapered Arrays.”
Bodin was a kind and highly spiritual person and had many friends both outside as well as within the pro audio community. Preceding him in death was his mother, Jean L. Bodin, and he is survived by his father, Donald H. Bodin and his sister, Melody. Bodin had five children Jessica (Eric), Andrew, Peter (Jessie), David, and Jonathan (Theodora) and his seven grandchildren Mikayla, Mira, Asher, Benjamin, Noah, Jonah, and Levi and he was proud of all of his children, children-in-laws, and grandchildren.
The family will be holding a private service at The Orthodox Holy Monastery of Panagia Pammakaristos in Lawsonville, NC on August 30, 2024, where Bodon will be laid to rest. Farewell, friend… rest well.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that contributions be sent to “Honor Mark’s Legacy” via GoFundMe.
