Event Details

The CMT Music Awards took place with an audio assist from ATK Audiotek/Clair Global on April 7. The event, which honors country music videos and TV performances based on fan voting, was broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.

Held in Nashville annually from 2002 to 2022, the 2024 ceremony returned to Austin’s Moody Center. Host Kelsea Ballerini, who was nominated for three awards, returned for the fourth consecutive year, the sole host this time around.

Highlights this year included a red Solo cup tribute to the late Toby Keith by Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson and Sammy Hagar. The event also featured the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award, given to Trisha Yearwood. And the evening’s top honoree, Jelly Roll, took home awards for Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year, all for his song, “Need a Favor.”

Jelly Roll and Trisha Yearwood also performed, along with a reunited Sugarland, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Sam Hunt, Cody Johnson, Little Big Town and Old Dominion, among others.

The P.A. system within the 15,000+-capacity Moody Center was comprised of JBL components including VTX A12, VTX A12W and VTX A8 enclosures along with VTX S28 subwoofers, with JBL ATK LME stage monitors and AC26 front-fills.

The production manager and audio coordinator for the event was Paul Cervenansky, and Mark Weglinski, Rick Shimer and Jason Spence handled mixing duties for the FOH/Production, FOH/Music Mix and Monitor Mix/Alpha Stage, respectively, using DiGiCo SD5, Quantum 338 and SD7 consoles.

Brian Bednar and George Schwartz looked after the P.A. as systems engineer and crew chief as Jason Glass and Cody Heimann handed RF. Other crew members included Craig Robertson, Tim Wagoner, Scott Diamond, Scotty Megrath, Greg Mackey, Matt Campisi and Joe Watson.
