Staging Details:

To give fans an in-the-round concert free of sightline issues caused by a conventional truss-and-roof setup, show designer Mark Cunniffe worked with Jeremy Lloyd of Wonder Works and Rasti Bartek at engineering consultancy Cundall. They came up with a design anchored by six ground-supported 32m masts that support flown and automated lighting, video and P.A. elements. Sheeran is touring with a five-piece band on this trek, and the shows have also featured a variety of guest artists.

Tech Insight:

When asked to name the console used at monitor position, Chris Marsh noted that he handles both FOH and Monitor mixing duties with a DiGiCo/KLANG setup at FOH. “Monitors are run from that console on separate layers from FOH. The beauty of using KLANG is that the band can have control of their mixes if they require any changes. This has worked well, even with guest artist’s monitor engineers taking a KLANG:kontroller to put the guest mix together with no stress…Truth is that there was no place for a monitor console. And the band is spread around the stadium, where is the right place to position the console? The simplest thing was to get the fundamentals right in rehearsals and give the band some control themselves during the show if they need any changes.”
