New from KV2 Audio is the compact-sized (15×13.4-inch, WxH) ESM26, a pro stage monitor, with a twin 6-inch woofer/horn configuration that can deliver 126 dB SPLs from this 33-pound box. Sensitivity is 98 dB/1W. The onboard crossover has a unique analog delay line circuit that offers component time alignment and phase correction without the need for external processors and bi-amping.
“The ESM26, and its big brother, the ESM12, can provide full output without the feedback that plagues competing floor monitors,” said Dave Christenson, VP at LIFT Distribution, KV2’s North American distributor. “This is due to KV2’s analog delay line technology, as utilized in the popular ESD range of speakers, which provides the components with perfect time alignment and phase correction.”
KV2’s director of marketing, Dave Croxton, explained, “With the phase coherency built-in to the design, the ESM26’s rejection to feedback is outstanding and absolutely minimal EQ, if any, is needed.”
The ESM26 uses two low-inductance, long-excursion six-inch drivers in a bass reflex cabinet. A full width port along the bottom of the cabinet provides direct coupling with the floor for enhanced bass response. The new patent-pending 1.75-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver incorporates a complex geometry phase plug for higher output, low distortion and extended frequency response.
Unlike many stage monitor designs that use very shallow angles for aesthetic appeal, the ESM26 incorporates a steeper angle to ensure sound is directed at the performer and rear of stage rather than up into the ceiling, while still retaining a total height of just over 13 inches. The ESM26’s connector panel is concealed into its side handle to ensure an attractive, unobtrusive appearance on stage.
