Studio Six's Digital iAudioInterface2 is designed to work with all current Apple iOS products, compatible with iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, and iPad. It can serve as a companion to AudioTools, and it can also serve as a stereo audio interface for iOS apps.
Features include 48V Phantom-powered XLR microphone input, with up to 50dB of gain; balanced line input for transfer function measurements; and balanced line output for signal generation. Toslink digital audio output mirrors line out at full level. It also supports Dolby Digital 5.1 AC3 test signals (optional in AudioTools).
iAudioInterface2 comes with an internal li-ion battery – it doesn't draw power from the user's device. When charging with the included external adapter, it also charges attached iOS devices, including iPad. The audio link to iOS devices is digital, and the device uses Studio Six Digital's own A/D converters and DAC with USB audio clock recovery.
Along with its ability to work as a companion to AudioTools, iAudioInterface2 also works with many iOS audio Apps, including Garageband, Skype, SignalScope, Multi-Track Recorder, and others. (Note that Apple does not support dock mics with the phone app.)
iAudioInterface2 is priced at $399.99 and the company announced availability in Oct. 2011.
