Rational Acoustics' Smaart I-O 2×2 USB audio interface is designed for use with Smaart v7 Measurement Software. The I-O features two active balanced inputs with 50 dB of computer adjustable gain in 1 dB steps. These input gains are monitored directly by Smaart, letting users retain accurate SPL calibration while varying measurement signal input levels.
The Smaart I-O uses Neutrik combo jacks (XLR /0.25") to accommodate both mic and line level inputs, each with switchable 48V phantom power on the XLRs for measurement mics and a 20 dB pad on the 0.25" jacks to accommodate line level signals. The Smaart I-O also features two active balanced XLR outputs capable of providing +8.2 dBu (2 Vrms) max level signal for playback or excitation sources.
Powered by the USB port of the user's computer (or via the optional 5 VDC jack), the Smaart I-O can serve as a compact and portable measurement-quality interface for Smaart rigs. The units are Mac OS X 10.5+ and Windows XP/Vista/7 compatible. Dimensions are 1.5 by 7.25 by 4.25 inches (3.8 x 18 x 10cm). They weigh 1.8 lbs /0.8 kg. The Smaart I-O was expected to be shipping by mid-November. The MSRP is $549.
