COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Liberty AV Solutions, a division of Wesco Distribution, Inc. acquired Middleton, WI-based Intelix, a manufacturer of AV components and software, for an undisclosed sum. Liberty, part of Wesco since 2006, supplies AV products including bulk wire and cable, equipment enclosures and mounts and power distribution products.
"Intelix has built a fine reputation among AV professionals over the last decade," said John Dace, who leads the Liberty operation within Wesco. "The company will enable the analog-to-digital transition. Its latest generation of products promise to make the shift to HDMI easier, reliable and more profitable."

Liberty's sales force will work to bring Intelix products to market, and Intelix, under founder Steve Cohan's guidance, will continue its focus on R&D and product development.

"We are a research and development company first," said Cohan. "We'll continue to delve deeply into discovering what it takes to make HDMI products work more efficiently. As it has been from the beginning, our goal is to help system designers and integrators adapt to today's realities as quickly as possible and in a pain-free environment."

Among other products, Intelix makes HDMI-over-coax extenders, distribution amplifiers, scalers, converters, matrix switchers, room combiners, and multi-zone paging systems. It also currently offers a broad line of AV-over-twisted-pair extenders, including solutions for multiple formats of audio and video, VGA, DVI, HDMI, USB, and PS2.

Wesco International, Inc., based in Pittsburgh, PA, is a leading provider of electrical, industrial, and communications maintenance, repair and operating ("MRO") and original equipment manufacturers ("OEM") products, construction materials, and advanced supply chain management and logistics services.
