Vina Del Mar Song Contest Festival Relies on Riedel Communications Infrastructure

VINA DEL MAR, Chile – The 52nd annual Viña del Mar Song Festival drew some 15,000 visitors a day recently to the Quinta Vergara Amphitheater to hear Nelly Furtado, Simply Red, Sting, and other international artists perform and, in many cases, compete. The production crew relied upon Riedel Communications for the wired and wireless communications infrastructure.
Chilefilms, the broadcast provider working on behalf of Chilevision, handled the HD broadcast for Latin and North America. Riedel, in cooperation with Intervideo, Riedel's local partner in Chile, provided one Artist 64 mainframe on-site connected to the Artist matrix in the HD OB truck and 16 Acrobat Beltpacks for communications within the arena.

Four Acrobat Cell Antennas were put to use, including two in the basement, where the backstage area was situated, and two additional antennas closer to the stage. For applications where the work radius was smaller, a Performer digital partyline system with 20 Performer beltpacks was used.

The festival's technical director, Rodolfo Nutters, said the Riedel system was able to integrate the three communications technologies. He credited the Riedel infrastructure for its "fast and easy" setup, adding that the Viña del Mar Song Contest 2011 festival would "not possible without the help of Riedel."
